The Puffing Billy Railway & The Walhalla Goldfields Railway - Australia

The Puffing BillyThis 2' 6" line is the famous Ozzy twin to the W&L recently opened through to Gembrook this former Victoria State Railway is the longest of a once extensive system of narrow gauge lines in the state and one not to be missed. Also I include a page about the other operating 2' 6" line in  Victoria, formerly the Moe Walhalla Line and now the "Walhalla Goldfields Railway".



The Ji-Tong Railway - China

QJ 6911 Daban MPDOne of the newest lines in China of nearly 1000 km in the frozen region of Inner Mongolia makes for one of the most spectacular steam photographic lines in the world. Massive locos and huge viaducts with steep grades all lead to a most exceptional line. See for yourself!


Industrial Lines including the Yexi Stone Railway - China

762mm in China.This 760 cm line is not far from Beijing and carries stone from a quarry to a transshipment point with the main line. These little locos rush back and forth all day with their load. Also featured is one of the many standard gauge colliery lines.

Narrow Gauge in Queensland - Australia

Narrow Guage Railways of QueenslandThe 3' 6" gauge lines in Australia are mainly centered in Queensland which have many thousands of miles of lines up the east coast from Brisbane to Cairns with branches inland operated by the State Railway. There are also many reopened by preservationists including those in the Atherton tablelands illustrated here.

Australian Named TrainsThere are many famous named trains running in Australia including perhaps some of the most well know, The Ghan and the Indian Pacific must be two of the most famous but there are others which offer some of the most unique trains rides in the world, if not some of the last great train rides on the planet!
