Dirty Lane to Dolarddyn

The Spring 2003 track work was concentrated near "Dirty Lane" (MP 6/0 to 5/II) to Dolarddyn Straight. Lifting old 45lb rail and mainly heavy ex London Transport hard wood sleepers. These were replaced with new (South African) 60lb (30kg/m) rails and the last of the Australian Karri hard wood sleepers and the new hard wood's from Brazil's sustainable forests. Fitting of rails was by MOD (Ministry of Defense) Clips and screws which have been found to be more secure than the base plate and spike's used before."MOD" Clip and screw fixing
